Kettering, Ohio – Kettering’s weather is changing rapidly. That means we are getting ever closer to the 2021 Holiday Season. Kettering is set to kick off the holiday season with the City’s annual Kettering Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The event will be held December 3, 2021, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. The event will be held at the Lincoln Park Civic Commons, 675 Lincoln Park Blvd.

The highlight of the event will be Mayor Don Patterson’s lighting of the Kettering Christmas Tree. But that’s just part of the fun. The event will also feature carols from the Kettering Children’s Choir. The Kettering Children’s Choir educates young singers ages 8-18 on vocal techniques. The choir is known throughout Ohio as a premier vocal ensemble and choral school.

Attendees will also be treated to cookies and hot chocolate. And of course, you will be able to tour Kettering’s holiday light display. You can even see the display in style via a horse-drawn carriage ride.

Kettering is also moving their Santa Paws event so that it coincides with the tree lighting ceremony. So Kettering says that you should bring your cameras and pups to get the perfect picture with props and backgrounds that will be stationed around Lincoln Park.

Kettering says that this year’s tree lighting ceremony will be Patterson’s last as Mayor. Patterson is retiring. Patterson was first elected as Mayor in 2005 and was first elected to the Kettering City Council in 1997. Kettering hopes all Kettering residents come out to send Mayor Patterson out in style.

The Kettering Tree Lighting event is free.

Kettering is also planning a special holiday concert called “Swingin’ Sounds of the Season”. Kettering says, “Swing into the Christmas season with Frank Sinatra as he and special guest Marilyn Monroe serenade you with jingles, jangles, and plenty of holiday hits and classic favorites.” The event announcement also says that concert attendees will be treated to delicious desserts in a festive environment. The concert will be held December 7, 2021, from 6:00 P.M.to 8:00 P.M. at the Charles I Lathrem Senior Center 2900 Glengarry Drive, Kettering. Tickets for the show are $8 per person for Kettering residents and $10 per person for non-residents. You must purchase tickets and register for the event no later than Friday, December 3, 2021.
