The highlight of the event will be Mayor Don Patterson’s lighting of the Kettering Christmas Tree. But that’s just part of the fun. The event will also feature carols from the Kettering Children’s Choir. The Kettering Children’s Choir educates young singers ages 8-18 on vocal techniques. The choir is known throughout Ohio as a premier vocal ensemble and choral school.
Attendees will also be treated to cookies and hot chocolate. And of course, you will be able to tour Kettering’s holiday light display. You can even see the display in style via a horse-drawn carriage ride.
Kettering is also moving their Santa Paws event so that it coincides with the tree lighting ceremony. So Kettering says that you should bring your cameras and pups to get the perfect picture with props and backgrounds that will be stationed around Lincoln Park.
Kettering says that this year’s tree lighting ceremony will be Patterson’s last as Mayor. Patterson is retiring. Patterson was first elected as Mayor in 2005 and was first elected to the Kettering City Council in 1997.
The weather forecast for Friday is good with an expected high of 53 and a low of 31 with a 0% chance of rain.
